Nearly half become homeless for the first time after 55. Most fall through the gap between housing and health care.

By building meaningful relationships where we can combat loneliness and isolation in a safe and supportive community.

A sense of belonging and purpose through opportunities to contribute, education, and training.

Around a meaningful and purposeful life through one-on-one tenant support services and connecting to community resources.
$1,300 per year. Roughly $4 per day.

Mrs C's 100th birthday at Alexander House.
One year after an assault in Gastown, residents and staff celebrated Mrs C's 100th birthday together at Alexander House.

A year after she was randomly attacked in Gastown, Mrs C turned 100. The room was full of neighbours.
When the incident happened, our staff helped Mrs C report it to the VPD. Other seniors in her building got cautious about going out alone. So Whole Way House started a partnership with the Vancouver Police — regular onsite touchpoints with officers, for the seniors who live there.
On her birthday, the lounge filled with balloons, a hand-painted yellow card from neighbours, and a microphone. Mrs C sang.

A monthly store. Donated clothing, free tokens. A hand-up, not a hand-out.

An opportunity for seniors to enjoy a fun and safe environment to get some exercise and explore our beautiful city.
Clean Team
Many of our residents struggle with mobility limitations which make it difficult for them to clean their rooms. Clean walls and tidy kitchens make for a higher quality of life.

Their model is scalable and economical, and most importantly, supports seniors in aging in the right place, with the right supports.
Taking a proactive approach to preventing homelessness among seniors is not only compassionate but also fiscally responsible.
